About Abilities

Abilities is an established training provider with over 20 years experience in helping people back into employment. We are a non-profit making charity working closely with local community and businesses to help and support people back into work.


Initially Abilities was setup to help people with disabilities re-train and find sustainable employment; we have since expanded to cover the long term unemployed, young people and lone parents amongst others.


One of our main strengths is that we treat all our clients as individuals and tailor activities to suit their needs


Such activities include;




We hold both group and one to one sessions to help with all aspects of finding and securing employment including;

  • Job Searching
  • Help with on-line and paper based application forms.
  • Speculative approaches.
  • Cover letters
  • CV's
  • Confidence building
  • Interview Techniques
  • Overcoming all barriers towards finding work.


We also work with a number of local businesses to provide work placements and trials for our clients who need experience or for those who are changing career. Many of our programmes also include 'In Work Support', to ensure once a client is in work they still hve access to training, advice and guidance.




We have a very high success rate with clients achieving NVQ awards, certificates and diplomas at levels 1, 2 and 3. Courses on offer include;

  • Information Technology
  • Business and Administration
  • Customer Service.

This is a great alternative to college courses as it is done in a workplace like enviroment.

We also provide assistance with literacy and numeracy skills.
